Kendrick Hunter surrendered to police after shootout
Mari Martin, 27, was shot in December after an altercation between Hunter, Brandon Flowers, and him. During the fight, first Martin and then Flowers and Hunter, 24, began shooting at each other. Another fight broke out, where Flowers knocked out Martin and then Hunter shot Martin in the leg or side.
Police believe that Martin, the father of Hunter’s sister’s unborn child, was walking by Hunter’s residence and yelling on his phone. Hunter said Martin was not welcome due to previous threats. Martin refused to leave and began to fight Flowers and Martin.
Martin was pronounced dead at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Flowers was arrested but not charged. He told police he tried to break up the fight and was unsure if he returned fire. Hunter’s bail was set at $500,000 and he is being with first degree murder.
