Keith Sweeney further charged in child porn case
In 2017, Keith Sweeny, a former police officer, was convicted of shooting and murdering an unarmed suicidal man. He is currently at the Marshall Country Detention Center. He is now facing 12 charges of child pornography accessed at the detention center.
A former jail administrator is believed to have given Sweeney an iPad allowing him access to the detention center and password. This also allowed him to access his old files and share them.
Sweeny is accused because IP tracking showed that device was used is the same iPad he was given. Sweeny’s lawyer, Gary James, has argued that other people may have using the iPad and there are other issues which indicate that Sweeny may not be the one responsible.
The county sheriff’s office has said they did not know Sweeny had the tablet computer. It has also been confiscated and all passwords have been changed.
