Kamani Kevinano Johnson arrested after attacking police

A member of the University of Arkansas’s basketball team, Kamani Kevinano Johnson, was arrested with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Johnson has played for two years at another branch of the university but had yet to play at the current branch.

Police were attempting to breakup a fight blocking a roadway when Johnston attempted to strike one of the officers. He was detained and calmed, but when the police attempted to escort him awa to avoid arrest, he started blocking the roadway, yelling, and antagonizing others in the crowd.

Johnson further refused to comply with commands, and attempted to fight people nearby. When informed of his arrest, Johnson grabbed a light pole to prevent the placement of his hands behind his back. Some officers were injured by Johnson’s resistance.

His coach said that Johnson’s continued status with the team will depend on the results of their investigation. Johnson was released the next day on a $265 bond.
